Fox Chase Soccer Club
Mission
For more than sixty years, Fox Chase Soccer Club has remained committed to introducing children of all ages and abilities to the game of soccer, emphasizing not only skill development but also sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork. Whether in a developmental setting where players first learn the fundamentals, or in a more competitive framework that challenges them to grow and excel, the Club has consistently treated soccer as more than a game. It has been a place where young people learn to work together, overcome obstacles, support one another, and build confidence both on and off the field.
In this way, the Club stands as a natural extension of the history of Fox Chase: a neighborhood institution rooted in community and sustained by generations of families who believe in the value of playing and growing together.
Birthplace of a nation and a neighborhood
The story of Fox Chase begins within the broader story of Philadelphia itself, a city shaped over centuries by waves of immigrants who brought with them languages, customs, traditions, and a deep commitment to building community. In the colonial era, European settlers reached the Pennypack Creek area in the mid-seventeenth century, establishing some of the earliest footholds in what would later become Northeast Philadelphia. Over time, these families helped define the character of the city, contributing to the neighborhoods, institutions, and civic traditions that made Philadelphia a patchwork of close-knit communities.
In the area that became Fox Chase, early settlement gave way to a village centered around the Fox Chase Inn, built in 1705, and the surrounding countryside gradually evolved from farmland and estates into a distinct city neighborhood attracting residents who valued both community life and open space. The game of soccer was just one new recreational activity that emerged, grew with popularity and became synonymous with life in this growing community. Informal games and leagues were a mainstay for many years leading up to the formalization of the Club in 1964.
Fox Chase Soccer Club Today
The Club offers a wide array of teams and programs including many boys and girls travel teams who compete in various leagues throughout Pennsylvania, a two-tier in-house program for youth ages five through ten (Fox Chase Majors and Fox Chase Minors) and the Fox Chase Futures program designed to introduce children as young as age four to the game with an emphasis on fun. Children with learning and other disabilities are welcomed into the Fox Chase Champions program which has offered a safe and friendly place to play for many years running.
Over the years, the Club has proudly sponsored travel teams in both state and national tournaments and has been fortunate enough to congratulate many teams who have won league titles at its annual banquet.
After matriculating through our travel teams, the Club has proudly watched many of its players continue their playing careers in both college and within competitive amateur leagues in the area. Even more importantly, many players have come back to support the Club as volunteers and coaches. In the spirit of accessibility, the Club has kept annual registration fees at an affordable level since inception.
